Clones
Create multiple EasyMovie instances with completely independent settings. Each clone is a separate addon that shares the core code but maintains its own configuration.
Why Clone?
| Use Case | Main EasyMovie | Clone |
|---|---|---|
| Different genres | All movies | Only action movies |
| Different audiences | Adult content | Kids-only content |
| Different modes | Browse mode | Playlist mode |
| Different rooms | Living room setup | Bedroom setup |
Creating a Clone
- Go to Settings > Advanced > Tools
- Click Create EasyMovie copy...
- Confirm the creation dialog
- Enter a name for the clone (e.g., "Kids Movies", "Action Night")
- A progress dialog shows the creation steps
- Restart Kodi when prompted
What Gets Created
A new addon appears in Add-ons > Program add-ons: - Named "EasyMovie - [Your Name]" (e.g., "EasyMovie - Kids Movies") - Completely separate settings - Can be added to your home screen independently
Clone Settings
Each clone has its own: - Launch behavior (Browse vs Playlist vs Ask) - All filter presets and modes - Movie set settings - View style and theme - Playback settings - Movie pool and re-suggestion settings
Custom Icons for Clones
Each clone can have its own custom icon:
- Open the clone's settings
- Go to EasyMovie > Appearance
- Click Set custom icon
- Choose an image file
This makes it easy to identify different clones at a glance.
Updating Clones
When you update EasyMovie (install a new version), clones need to be updated too:
- Launch a clone after updating the main addon
- EasyMovie detects the version mismatch
- A dialog appears: "A new version of EasyMovie is available"
- Click Update to proceed
- Restart Kodi when prompted
The update preserves all clone settings and only updates the code files.
Removing a Clone
- Go to Settings > Add-ons > My add-ons > Program add-ons
- Find the clone (e.g., "EasyMovie - Kids Movies")
- Click Uninstall
This removes only the clone, not the main EasyMovie addon.
